中金心水论坛Crabs in the Caribbean A Love Affair Begins

While we were in Jamaica, Mr. Crab discovered a new-found love for Jamaican cuisine. It started with our first dinner on the island and progressed from there.

He ordered a full Jamaican breakfast every morning and was a big fan of the national dish ackee and saltfish. Ackee is a fruit that is sauteed with salt cod and aromatics, and when it’s served it looks a lot like scrambled eggs. I’m not a fan of the soft texture, but Mr. Crab loved it.

Frankly,http://www.55548.info/www_55548_info/201503/6.html,中金心水论坛, my mister was late to the party on his love of Jamaican food. Despite the fact that it is often too spicy for me, I’ve really enjoyed Jamaican cuisine for a while,http://www.673344.info/www_673344_info/201503/9.html,http://www.kk685.org/kk685_com/201503/169.html,本港台开奖现场直播, and I was excited to try the food on its native soil!

One of the best meals of the week was the house-made jerk sausage we ordered from the pool bar. It was nearly too spicy for me to tolerate, but it had incredible flavor and a super appealing snap! The creamy dressing, pasta salad, and plantain were the perfect cooling complements to the scrumptious sausage.

We had our fair share of curry chicken and goat and stewed oxtail, but the absolute star of the week was the bushman stew. From what I can tell, bushman stew is a dish specific to the Pushcart Restaurant. We loved it so much,http://www.38636.info/xianggang6hecai/201503/7.html, we asked the chef if he would share the recipe (lucky for us—he did)! I tried my hand at it as soon as we got home.

On our last night in Jamaica we sat at the “Rock Table,” which was a secluded table at the Rockhouse Restaurant. It was a lovely,刘伯温博彩网, private dinner. Best of all,http://www.577588.info/577588_com/201503/7.html, there was no extra charge to sit at the lovely table—we just needed to make an advance reservation!

We had velvety pumpkin soup, coconut chicken, and the signature dish of the Rockhouse Restaurant, the “Old Time Synting” which was a composed seafood dish with crayfish,香港挂牌历史记录,http://www.74772.info/liuhemianfeixinshuiluntan/201503/9.html, calamari,http://www.345458.org/www_345458_com/201503/170.html,马经258图库现场开奖, snapper, shrimp, “Jamaican Rundown sauce,” fried sweet potato, and white rice. The star of our final dinner was the fruit punch—it was more like a fresh fruit smoothie and was one of the best things we ate in Jamaica.

Overall, the food and drinks we had in Negril were amazing. One of the few disappointments of our trip was the lack of good coffee available. Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is some of the most sought after in the world. We knew that we’d be drinking mostly High Mountain coffee because Blue Mountain is rare and expensive, but we still had high hopes since it would be grown in the vicinity of the famous beans. Sadly, the Jamaican coffee we had was middling at best. Even the Blue Mountain and High Mountain beans that we bought to brew at home didn’t come close to our favorite Ethiopian or Kenyan beans.

Despite the disappointing coffee,http://www.886789.org/www_886789_org/201503/179.html, we thoroughly enjoyed the food we had on our trip to Negril, and although we spent most of the time lazing around we did get into a few shenanigans to mix things up.

Do you try new foods when you travel,http://www.59499.org/59499_com/201503/159.html? Have you tried to re-create your favorite dishes from your vacation at home?
